About the Doctors

Dr. Stuart A. Vendeland

Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Vendeland graduated from the University of Cincinnati and completed his graduate work in Dentistry at Ohio State University. After graduation, he began his dental career in the Air Force, which brought him to the Pacific Northwest, and he fell I love with the beauty and the multitude of opportunities, professionally and personally, of the Puget Sound region.

With college and military service completed, Dr. Vendeland started his dental practice in Renton in 1971. Since then, he has practiced in two locations and his current office at 601 S. Carr Rd, Suite 400, offers his patients the latest in dental technology from lasers and intra-oral cameras to the newest restorative techniques such as teeth whitening, implants and tooth colored restorations.

Professionally, Dr. Vendeland is a member of the Seattle King County Dental Society, the Washington State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He participates on several dental professionals committees and is an active member of a number of local study clubs where he presents and teaches on a regular basis. In addition, he is on staff at Valley Medical Center and precepts exemplary dental students for the University of Washington School of Dentistry.

In his spare time, Dr. Vendeland and his wife Susan, enjoy the great outdoors with boating, gardening, biking, hiking, and take pleasure in driving and admiring the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest. Computers and ballroom dancing are a couple of his favorite indoor activities. As often as possible, Dr. Vendeland and his wife delight in the activities of their grandchildren.

Dr. Alice L. Chen

Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. She also holds a Master of Science degree from the Department of Oral Medicine, University of Washington. She was honored to have completed her fellowship training in Oral Oncology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington Medical Center. Currently a part time faculty member at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, she enjoys teaching and participating in research projects. She continues to provide oral care to bone marrow transplant patients ant the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. As you can see, Dr Chen is a dedicated dental professional.

At Vendeland Dental Professionals, Dr Chen practices general dentistry along with specialized oral medicine. She enjoys all aspects of family dentistry, especially cosmetic and implant dentistry. She looks forward to seeing her wonderful patients on a regular basis!
Dr Chen is married to Dr. Allen Chen, a Periodontist in Renton, Washington. They have two lovely children, Steven and Serina, who keep them busy with their myriad of activities! As her children are getting older, Dr Chen has more time to enjoy gardening, exercising, ballroom dancing, skiing and traveling.
